In the project PROOF, the Chinese artist 9mouth 九口走召 displays memories in an unusual black and white display.
Questioning what is a “proof” of past love, the artist printed the lover’s shots to kept traces of love as a physical testimonial, and mixed it with other documents.
But printed on thermal paper, and alike the tickets and receipts, pictures inexorably vanish in a metaphorical demonstration of the fade of everything.
An album have collected these pictures at one moment : [ PROOF ]
The natural charm of intimate portraits, some candid, some mature, is deepened by the use of thermal paper like a vanitas in paintings, but nor a pattern neither a detail but a material.
The existence of memories is then defined by the medium as a message.
