Discover some background about our new publication [Once in a corner] and its author the Japanese artist Kazuyuki Yamada.
After a being a photographer assistant and running a short career in photography business, The photographer Kazuyuki Yamada dropped the commercial photography to be a full-time artist in 2014, starting making art books.
He developed since his own technique of production mimicking aged and used books and magazines as a new way to present the photographic work. In 2017, he started drawing and painting, abstract collages, that he also added in his books.
The delicacy of prints, paper and drawings are mistreated and abused in the compact form of a unique book or an imaginary zine. Handcrafted publications are walked in the spring’s fell sakura petals, suspended in the summer wind, soaked in various solutions, unpolished or eroded one by one in a different way, until the work reaches its artistic satiety.
The intended adjustments show my interest in the will to find something, the wounds and stains appearing symbolize experiences that I’ve gained so far.Kazuyuki Yamada
In [once in a corner] Kazuyuki Yamada enhance the idea of unique moments, and the final presentation artificially fixes the passage of time. But for the collaboration with Bromide books, the artist agreed to reproduce the collection in a larger quantity, spreading sprawling stories like art tentacles all around the globe.
Each book then is composed with the same content, but crafted in a unique way in and out by the artist. Only 25 handmade copies are available, all different.
The book is available on the Bromide store here : ONCE IN A CORNER
