This May 17th to 19th, we joined the Shanghai Art Book Fair, now named UNFOLD, for the first time.
We prepared our venue with some delicious gifts; new free buttons and magnets for every customer, a free photozine “SELF-SERVICE” by Philipp Schmitt joined to our popular book COMPUTED CURATION, and a life-size display on the wall of our coming new release “Omission” by the German duo Billy&Hells.
Despite the fact that we are still a young company in the publishing world and that we don’t speak the mandarin language, we were glad to receive numerous visitors. We were also a bit shy regarding to the huge range that “ART BOOK” covers. But we were delighted to see all these indie publishers, these alternative printing processes, and these colorful prints and books all around us.
All this have a price for visitors: a waiting queue, long enough to cross the M50 site until the street entrance to the #4 building. Dear passerby, please apologize.
The surprisingly young audience was particularly gentle, curious and, for our great pleasure, interested enough to make us almost sold out on some publications on the first day.
The late comers of the last day may have been sad to meet our almost empty table on the closing time.
Let’s meet again, maybe next year.
