The Dashilar area, near Qianmen, is just a few steps south-west from the Tiananmen square
Dashilan -pronounced Dashilar by locals- should be the most ancient, famous and distinctive commercial street of Beijing hutongs, still driving today thousands of visitors daily.
In the close neighbourhood stands family hutongs dedicated to retail business with more than 500 years history.
The renovated hutongs (small laneways) of this area are full of unique shops, galleries and cafés. Coexisting with time-honoured brands or just keepsakes sellers, the new generation is adding his touch to the history of the city. Authentic selvedge denim, quality clothes retails, real cafés (with home roasted selection, and several variety and sources to discover), hidden japanese cantine and craft goods,… all the newest creative hub turns here.
It’s in this effervescent new business mix that stand BOOK DESIGN SHOP, a small shop dedicated to curated books, handpicked magazine selection, stationary and other related goods. Even if the choice is not huge, every selected item show the good taste of Tony Li, the owner.
